EIA21 delivered multidisciplinary engineering services for the Green Park 5 Anaerobic Digestion and Biomethane Production Plant in Italy, focusing on the integration of mechanical and electrical systems. Starting from the basic engineering phase, the project involved defining the main equipment and ensuring its seamless integration within the plant.

The Challenge

To design an engineering solution capable of significantly reducing equipment manufacturing and installation times for a biomethane production facility without compromising quality, system integration or operational performance.

The main challenge was to optimize the execution of a complex industrial facility by integrating mechanical and electrical systems through an industrialized approach that minimized on-site construction activities and associated risks.

The Solution

EIA21 developed a multidisciplinary engineering solution based on an advanced modularization approach. Starting from the basic engineering design, the project focused on defining the equipment and its integration within the plant.
The solution was based on the design of prefabricated skid-mounted systems (modular islands), manufactured and fully assembled off-site, ready for direct installation on foundations.

This approach included:

  • Definition and integration of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Modular design for off-site fabrication
  • Reduction of field interconnections
  • Layout and installation optimization.

Results

The implementation of modular engineering solutions optimized project execution and improved overall plant efficiency.
Key project outcomes included:

  • Biomethane production capacity of 500 Nm³/h (approximately 45 GWh/year)
  • Annual production capacity of 4 million Sm³/year
  • Significant reduction in construction and installation schedules
  • Reduced risks associated with field activities
  • Improved assembly quality and commissioning performance

This approach accelerated project implementation and enhanced the profitability of the investment within the context of the energy transition.
